Since our launch in 2017, Aventus has grown from a research project into an enterprise-grade blockchain ecosystem. And with that growth, the structures that supported its earliest phases have naturally evolved.
Historically, Aventus operated through three separate entities — the Aventus Foundation, the Aventus Network, and Aventus Network Services — each responsible for a distinct part of the ecosystem. This model worked during the initial build-out of the ecosystem, but as adoption accelerated and the ecosystem expanded, a more unified structure was required.
How the Previous Entities Functioned
- Aventus Foundation:
Delivered and maintained the original whitepaper, managed the distribution of AVT ICO proceeds, held and safeguarded open-source IP, drafted governance proposals for community voting until 2024 (today, any AVT holder can submit a proposal). - Aventus Network:
The underlying blockchain infrastructure powering transactions, appchains, and all protocol-level functionality. It provides the technical foundation on which the broader ecosystem operated. - Aventus Network Services (ANS):
Responsible for driving adoption of Aventus technology, building products, onboarding enterprise partners, and supporting ecosystem infrastructure. Historically received grants from the Foundation for defined deliverables — all independently audited — but designed to be a self-sustaining, revenue-generating contributor to the ecosystem.
Why the DAO was Introduced
As Aventus enters a phase of broader adoption — including enterprise integrations, appchain deployments, and growing community participation — it became increasingly important to consolidate oversight and decision-making. The separation between the Foundation, Network, and ANS no longer reflect the most efficient structure for ecosystem growth and collaboration.
The Aventus DAO replaces siloed incentives and workflows with a single, aligned governance framework that brings all previous entities under one coherent structure. This consolidation ensures consistent priorities, coordinated execution, and a unified long-term strategy for the entire ecosystem.
The DAO governs, markets, and funds the Aventus ecosystem on a non-profit basis, covering protocol governance execution, treasury management, grants, growth (including node sales, marketing and business development), and technology oversight — providing a single point of accountability for how the ecosystem evolves.
Operating as a non-profit, the DAO must reinvest any revenue or surplus into initiatives that advance its objectives. No income or profits may be distributed to Members, Council Members, or officers, ensuring that all value created is redirected toward ecosystem growth and sustainability.
Execution and oversight are carried out by a three-member Council. The Council represents the DAO externally, manages its assets, engages service providers, and ensures regulatory and operational compliance across all activities.
